Welcome to Katydids World. I’m Kathy, a recently retired social work clinician who enjoys being creative. I am a mother of 5, and grandmother of 12 which keeps me smiling, laughing and on my toes. I love spending time with family and friends and enjoy traveling, whether it’s a few hours away from my upstate NY home, or accross the globe.

I was introduced to Zentangle in August, 2011 and haven’t put my pen down since. I’ve always loved crafting and quilting, but never thought I could draw. Now I find myself looking forward to the evening when I can sit and tangle away. Other interests are gardening (definitely a novice), reading, and wandering through antique shops.

I decided to start a blog so that I could record and share my creative endeavors, my thoughts, and events happening in my world.

In September of 2012 I attended the CZT Seminar 10, and am now an official Certified Zentangle Teacher!

Thanks for visiting!

  1. Kathy,

Have you decided whether or not to go to CZT in September? I am signed up to go and I can’t wait!
By the way, I like your blog. I started one also, just to post my challenge tangles. I have four kids and I don’t seem to be able to get too much more than those done and some weeks, I can’t even accomplish that! LOL

Anyway, just wondered if you were going. It would be nice to “know” someone there.

    Have a great day!

    • Hi Kathy,
It’s funny that you posted this today. I was just talking to a friend last night about wether to go or not. If I do go, it will be nice to know someone. I went to a weekend workshop that Sandy Steen Bartholomew did in Maine and it was amazing. Are you interested in teaching? I think I’d like to, and so I would like to attend in September. I’m trying to decide if I’d do enough teaching to justify the cost of the training, and the extra expense of a single room. I’m taking a trip to Ireland for almost 3 weeks in June (I can’t wait), but that has taken a bite out of my savings. Are they matching you up with a room mate, or are you getting a single room?
I visited your blog earlier. I like how you have it set up. Your Zendalas are wonderful! Do you plan on putting your Diva challenges up too?
It was nice to hear from you,

  2. Hi,

Your trip sounds wonderful! Did you say you are travelling with your sister? I can’t justify the extra money for a single room so I will be sharing. I am coming by myself so will have to let them match me up. The seminar is very expensive for my family, but my husband understands that it is something that brings me happiness and if I can work doing something I love, then he is all for it. I do plan on teaching classes, but what I really want to do with it is to work with cancer centers, therapists, etc. to teach patients dealing with either physical or emotional pain to help them deal with it better. I suspect that a good bit of my time may be on a volunteer basis…LOL

Anyway, I’d like to hear more about you and your tangling experiences. If you would like, please email me at kshab@sbcglobal.net.

Thanks again for the link to the shading tutorial, i appreciate it!

    Have a great day!
